Want to get paid to move to Spain? Extremadura offers digital nomads up to €15,000 to settle there.
While digital nomads may no longer be welcome in certain regions due to concerns about gentrification and rising prices, Extremadura embraces these remote workers with open arms and financial support. This undiscovered region of Spain offers beautiful nature, historical cities, and a lower cost of living.
With a €2 million grant program, the government aims to attract 200 remote workers to boost both the population and economy. On top of the grant, digital nomads can enjoy a highly affordable lifestyle here. In cities like Badajoz, the cost of food, transportation, and utilities is 30% lower than in Madrid.
Who is eligible?
The program targets highly qualified tech professionals who can work entirely remotely. Both Spanish residents from other regions and foreigners can apply, provided they haven’t lived in Extremadura in the six months prior to applying. Foreign nationals must have a valid residency permit and possibly a digital nomad visa.
How much can you get?
Grant amounts vary. Women, young people under 30, and those relocating to towns with fewer than 5,000 residents are eligible for €10,000. Other applicants receive €8,000. After two years, if you decide to stay longer, you’ll receive an additional €5,000 or €4,000, depending on your category.
How to apply?
Applications will open shortly after the scheme is published in the Official Gazette of Extremadura, likely around mid-September. Applications will remain open until the €2 million has been allocated, with an estimated duration of at least a month and up to a year.
In short, this is your chance to enjoy a unique region while being financially supported to continue your digital nomad lifestyle!
